Blogmas Day 8: NARS Lipstick in “Tolede” Review/Swatch

Welcome back to Blogmas day 8! I hope you guys are enjoying this series on my blog! If you missed my other Blogmas post, no worries, you can find them all linked at the end of this post! 🙂

If you know me well, then you know NARS is my go-to for high end makeup for so many reasons. I love the packaging, shades, products and the wear. Without further ado, let’s get into today’s review on the NARS lipstick in “Tolede”.

The price of this lipstick is $26 for one lipstick and I don’t find this a bad price point at all! Many high end lipsticks are in the $35 price point to put into perspective.

The packaging of this lipstick is so sleek and feels a bit grippy which is nice. I also love the square shape of the packaging so it won’t roll off of your vanity and get damaged.

The texture of this lipstick is so smooth and soft. I love the finish of this particular shade because it has a satin finish. Don’t worry it isn’t super shiny or to matte, that’s why I love satin lipsticks. 🙂

You can tell by the swatch that this has such a beautiful sheen to it and the color is a pink rose shade, so it’s perfect for daily wear.

How does it look on?

I think this shade would suit all skin tones because it’s the perfect nude shade without being super nude and it’s pinky without being extremely on the pink side.

Cruelty Free?

It is not fully cruelty free because they sell their products in China. I wish they would just cut the ties so they can be fully cruelty free because their products are seriously amazing.

This product is definitely long wearing. You may have to touch up after you eat or drink a bit, but it’s perfect for a party or if you’ll be out for a while.

Ok, is it just me or does NARS lipsticks smell like Froot Loops? Lol

Would I recommend this lipstick?

Absolutely, it is amazing. I love the fact the shade range so there is seriously a lipstick for everyone and the color “Tolede” is seriously the perfect nude shade without looking like concealer on your lips. The price point is really good, the wear is awesome and the packaging is geniusly squared so it doesn’t roll off your vanity and damage your lipstick.

I hope you guys enjoyed this review! Feel free to like, comment, share and follow my blog for new posts every Tuesday and Friday EVERYDAY!

Have you given this lipstick a try? What are your thoughts on it? Do you also think it smells like froot loops?

Blogmas Day 5: Gift Guide For Him

Hey there! Welcome to Blogmas Day 5! If you missed my previous Blogmas posts, no worries, they’ll be linked at the end of this post!

With Christmas right around the corner, you may be running crazy trying to find the perfect gifts for your boyfriend, fiancé, husband, friend, brother, cousin, dad, uncle, etc

I’m here to help you find the perfect gifts
with the expert help of my husband of course. 🙂

Alexa EchoDot (4th Gen)

There is no surprise that this has made it to my gift guide for him. This is seriously amazing and if you don’t have one then you need it in your life. It is so helpful. She can be your DJ, your go to when you don’t know what to cook, she can make grocery lists for you, set alarms, answer your random questions that you may have and so much more. Literally a personal assistant. I have the 3rd gen and absolutely love it. I love this design and will more than likely purchase this one. It’ll look so sleek on a shelf, nightstand, counter, etc
Most of all it’s easy to use even if you aren’t an expert at technology!

Smart watch

Whether you have an apple, android or any brand in between, a smart watch is a must have. It makes life so much more convenient and the pickiest person would love this. You can always buy interchangeable bands for such an affordable price on Amazon or any other retail stores. I love that the person you’re purchasing this for can personalize their watch to fit their wants, need, or style with the interchangeable bands and tons of watch facings to choose from!

Ok, this gift is great for anyone that’s a handyman or wanting to become one. What man doesn’t love tools. This can be anything from a leaf blower to a drill and everything in between. The options are endless depending on what they prefer or have use for. You can even get extra creative and personalize each of their tools with a sweet message.

Restaurant Gift Card

The times that we are living in now can make it so hard for someone to go out and actually enjoy themselves. What better way than to treat the guy in your life than with a gift card to a food place. Whether it’s a coffee shop, a favorite restaurant or a fast food place, I’m sure they’ll appreciate being able to buy a meal that they don’t have to pay for and besides, who doesn’t love food.

A Years Worth of Subscription Boxes

Who doesn’t love endless gifts. This is such a great gift because the person you’re gifting this to not only gets something for Christmas but every month after that as well! This can get a bit pricey, but you can decide how long the subscription box lasts depending on how much you’d like to spend on that person. I love this idea that they’d be able to test out new products and discover new brands which is always a nice way to get someone out of their comfort zone. You can base the subscription box on the interests the person you’re shopping for may have!

This may be a great way for someone to spark a new interest in this crazy time we’re living in. This is also a great way to introduce books to someone who claims they’re always busy or never gets time to sit down. The options are endless when it comes to books so keep that in mind when buying an audible for someone. To ensure that the person listens to the audible, try to buy a few books that you think may make the person interested. If you want to play it safe, maybe spark a conversation on books that you’re thinking about reading. Maybe they’ll share some books they’d want to read as well!

BBQ Grill

Ok, maybe the guy in your life isn’t as a great of a cook in the kitchen, but he might be an excellent griller. Gift the guy in your life a grill with all the accessories that go with it. If you’re feeling extra creative, gift him a few steaks or burger patties to go with his grill. You may get lucky and be a food taster. 🙂

A Themed Gift Box Full of Goodies

This the most safest but useful gift idea! If the guy you’re shopping for is a movie lover then compile a box with snacks, a favorite movie, pajamas, and maybe his favorite drink. If he’s a car enthusiast maybe you can add a few modifications such as LED lights, gift cards, a scale model to their car, or even find your nearest car show and take them there (Do this responsibly, make sure to wear a mask and social distance). If they have tons of interests, then get an item that depicts each of their interest and compile them into a gift basket.

All in all, whatever you decide to give the guy(s) in your life, I’m sure they’ll love it. Not only are all of these gifts thoughtful, but they’re also pretty creative for the most part. I hope this gift guide was helpful and if you do decide to purchase any of these items listed for the guy in your life, then let me know their reaction to these gifts.

Do you have any suggestions on gifts for him? Let me know in the comments below! Lookout for more gift guides to hopefully help you guys shop.

Blogmas Day 4: Product Review: Mini Rouge Dior Lipstick Set

With the holidays quickly approaching what better way to treat yourself or someone else to this stunning mini lipstick set by Dior?

Dior has a very luxurious style when it comes to their products and it’s no surprise that even this has luxurious written all over it. I love the gold, holiday look of the packaging. The way Dior Rouge is placed on the front sets a bold statement. I also think it’s helpful that they display the colors included in this set on the back with the names of them well-labeled. When you open it up, you’re greeted with a beautiful velvet black border and faced with a deep red. So bold and classy. The packaging is still the same as the Rouge Dior Lipsticks, just in a mini size that’s so irresistible.

What’s included?

This Mini lipstick set comes with 4 mini lipsticks. 2 matte shades and 2 satin shades. I think this is perfect mix because you have the best of both worlds. The shades that this set has are

  • 999 Matte
  • 555 Dolce Vita
  • 772 Classic Matte
  • 434 Promenade

This set with 4 mini lipsticks is priced at $50. Many of you may think it’s pricey but if you put it this way it won’t seem expensive.

A full sized rouge Dior lipsticks is $38 for 3.4 grams. Each mini lipstick from the set is 1.5 grams so it averages too $12.50 per mini lipstick. I don’t think this is a bad price for the sole fact that you’ll be able to try out 4 new lipsticks for a smaller price than purchasing 4 full sized lipsticks for a heavier price tag.

This lipstick smells so delicate and actually now that I think about it, the lipsticks smell like the new baby smell. Weird right? Haha.

Beneficial Ingredients:

Each of these lipsticks are formulated with mango butter and hyaluronic acid. Both of these ingredients ensure that your lips stay hydrated, plump and full of life.

Swatches and Names

  • Matte: Red
  • Promenade: Hazelnut
  • Dolce Vita: light Rosewood
  • Classic Matte: Brick
The shade 999 Matte 😍

Application and wear

From the beginning, I knew that these lipsticks were going to go on very smoothly, just by the swatches. I was right about that.

As far as the wear, I love how the matte lipsticks went on so smooth and looked so beautiful and rich in color. The Matte lipsticks would’ve lasted longer on me had I not started eating haha. But it lasts about 4 hours without touching up, so perfect for holiday shopping or any holiday party you’ll be going to. Now for the satin lipsticks, they didn’t last as long as the matte ones, but If you’re okay with reapplying your lipstick throughout the day, then this is perfect for you. Keep in mind that Dior never made these to last all day! They just claim that this is 16 hours of hydration which is absolutely true. Not once did my lips feel dry or look dry.

  • Beautiful colors
  • Mini sized
  • Great packaging
  • Beautiful application
  • Makes you feel a little bit luxurious

  • Pretty high price point
  • Doesn’t stay on for a long period of time
  • Colors are a bit similar

Final thoughts

My final thoughts are that this is an overall great lipstick set. The colors are all wearable and would look stunning on any skin tone. It’s not only perfect shades for the holidays, but also perfect year round. I love that they are mini sized so it’s perfect to toss in your bag for any touchups you may need throughout the day. I think this would also be a great gift for someone just starting out their makeup journey. I also love the beneficial ingredients they added into this lipstick to ensure your lips stay hydrated! A nice little touch as that it’s made in France as their other products are so it gives you a little touch from somewhere other than where you live which makes it that much more special. On the flip side, I felt that some of the shades looked very similar, but still all very wearable.

Would I recommend?

Absolutely! I love the mini sized lipsticks which are perfect to travel with, the packaging, the smell, and how good it felt when applied. Never did it leave my lips dry which is a winner in my opinion. The fact that it’s a hydrating lipstick causes it to not be as long wearing as other lipsticks, but I’m ok with touching up my lipstick throughout the day. 🙂

I hope you all enjoyed this review! Don’t forget to like, comment and follow my blog for new post Tuesday and Friday Everyday! Also, if someone is thinking about purchasing this product, share my blog post so they can see the pros and cons of this product!

Blogmas Day 3: How to Make an Instagram-worthy Hot Cocoa

I’m not a fan of hot beverages, but this is my one exception. Hot chocolate is one of my favorite childhood drinks that made it into my adulthood must-have drinks for the Holidays!

Welcome to Blogmas Day 2 so happy that you’re reading this! 🙂

  • Cutest Holiday Cup you can find
  • Cadbury hot chocolate (or your favorite one)
  • Cinnamon
  • Whipped Cream
  • Mini candy cane
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Milk (your choice)

Ok, let’s get started!!

Step 1: Got Milk?

Pour your milk in the cup and heat it up! I heat my milk up for about 2 minutes. This way it’s just the right temperature when I’m done decorating it. Don’t worry, you can use any milk your heart desires. I’ve tried this recipe with almond milk and it tasted great, just added a nutty flavor.

Step 2: Chocolatey Goodness

This is the key part to this hot cocoa of course. If you can find the Cadbury hot cocoa mix then you will seriously never go back to your traditional mix. This one is seriously so delicious and chocolatey and rich tasting! A game changer in my opinion. One of my other favorite hot cocoa mix is the one by Ghirardelli. Seriously, so good. Once you find one of these two hot chocolates, mix it in to your hot milk.

Step 3: Sprinkle the Goodness

Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon to the top layer of hot cocoa, but do not stir! Ok, this is a crucial step, but you can opt out if you’re allergic or not very fond of cinnamon. I love eating/drinking things that have layers of flavor to it. It makes the item more interesting. Just try it if you love cinnamon
thank me late. Haha.

Step 4: Whip away

Channel your inner artist and add whipped cream to your drink. I noticed that the extra creamy whipped cream holds its shape better on the hot cocoa then the original, so definitely give it a try. Plus, who doesn’t love extra creamy, fluffy whipped cream. Yum…

Step 5: Drizzle Away

Get your favorite chocolate syrup and drizzle it as they do at Staarbucks! It’s all in the wrist. Haha. I love the Hershey’s brand, but anyone you love will work.

Step 6: Crush it up

There’s no surprise that candy canes are a must have to top off your hot cocoa. Crush them up and sprinkle them at the top. It adds such a cute look and a minty fresh goodness!

Step 7: Spruce it up

Add a mini candy cane to the side of your cup for looks and you’re all set

Snap a pic and E N J O Y

You’ll be tempted to drink this goodness right away, but don’t forget to snap a pic of your hot cocoa!

Cheers! I hope you guys not only enjoy your drink, but enjoyed my post as well! Don’t forget to LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE and FOLLOW my blog for new posts every Tuesday and Friday EVERYDAY for Blogmas.

Blogmas Day 2: Some Of My Favorite Christmas Movies

Welcome back to day two of my Blogmas series! Here in Florida, the weather is in the 40s!!!! Which is insane, but I’m so happy that it feels like Winter
well to use Floridians at least. I have been taking advantage and watching tons of Christmas movies with my kids and husband which inspired me to dedicate today’s post on some of my favorite Christmas movies!

Home Alone (1 through 4)

There’s no surprise at all that this is the first movie that has made it to my list! I watched this movie as a kid and thought it was the funniest movie ever. Years later and my kids also think this movie is absolutely hilarious! I love that. It also makes me laugh when I see the “Filthy animal” scene. Cracks me up every time!

Haha here’s another funny movie. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, then it’s a must see on your list. It’s so funny and the kids will love it!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Now, this is one of the first movies that I watch during the holidays because it seriously is a classic. It’s funny and kid friendly and always a go to when we don’t know what holiday movie to watch!

The Knight Before Christmas

This movie is romantic and very funny! You’ll seriously laugh so hard and there are also times you’ll say “awwwww” way to many times! I also find the scene with “Alexa” quite funny!

Bad Santa

This is seriously a very funny movie, but it is NOT kid friendly! It is a great laugh for adults though!

This concludes my favorite Christmas movies of all time! As you can see, I prefer funny movies because it’s a great way to keep everyone entertained and interested in the movie.

What are some of your favorite Christmas movies? It could be a newer movie or an older movie!

Blogmas Day 1: Makeup Items You NEED This Holiday Season

Blogmas is such a fun, stressful time! This year I decided to participate in it. I’m sure many of you guys are familiar with “Vlogmas” so think of that in blog format and you get….Blogmas! I hope you guys are as excited as me!

With that being said, you can scratch my usual Tuesday and Friday post and hold me accountable to having a blog post every. single. day.

Haha so, if you haven’t already done so, make sure to follow my blog to support me along this Blogmas journey!

For today’s post I decided to share a few must-have makeup items for this holiday season!

Dior Matte

This is no surprise that this lipstick hit my must have. I love rocking red lips around the holiday. It’s festive and makes me feel pretty confident. I absolutely adore this lipstick because it’s the perfect shade of red, would look fabulous on any skin tone, and is matte, but still hydrating which is essential for the cooler, drier weather. The wear on this is good, but not the greatest so reapplication is needed.

All-Nighter Setting Spray

This is such a classic makeup essential. If you’ve never tried this setting spray because you’re too scared of the price tag
just cave in and get it. This is one item that’s definitely worth splurging on. It lasts long, and seriously makes your makeup kiss-proof. So, no more dodging the mistletoe. 🙂

Glittery Eyeshadow

Tis the season to sparkle and shine because you deserve to do so. You can achieve this with any glittery shadow. One of my favorite one is from the Rare Beauty Magnetic Spirit palette in the shade “Clarity” which is such a beautiful, bright glittery shadow.

Budge-Proof Foundation

One of my favorite foundations is the Too Faced Born this way foundation. It speaks for itself and leaves such a beautiful, airbrushed finish. For a affordable option, you can try out the Maybelline Matte and Poreless foundation. I stand by this foundation and to put things in perspective, I use this foundation on a daily basis!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and you guys look forward to many more to come this Blogmas! Don’t forget to Like, Comment, Share and Follow for new blog posts every Tuesday and Friday Everyday!!

Product Review: Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm (limited edition cherry) by “Farmacy”

Before, I get into today’s blog post, I’d like to say Happy Thanksgiving to you all from my family to yours. I know this year’s Thanksgiving was quite different than what we’re all used to, but hopefully you made the best of it and created unforgettable memories with friends, families, strangers, etc
. Now, with that being sad

Let’s get into today’s review! 🙂

One word that describes my makeup style for the Holidays is “Glam” and skincare goes hand in hand with glam. When you’re ready to remove your makeup, you need something that’s going to get everything off. I think I have found that product!

Let me start off by saying that I’ve never tried anything by this brand before. I was actually gifted this and I’m so happy that I was because let’s just say I’m hooked.

Price is a make it or break it for me. For a 3.4 ounce (100 ml) it is $34. I don’t think that’s a bad price at all considering not only are their beneficial ingredients in here, but also that this product will last a very long time. I’ve been using this product every night for a month now and my container is still really full. I would say you can get about a 4 month use on this product.

The packaging is very clean and straight to the point. I love the pink and white combination. It’s such a soft pink and it gives a fresh, clean vibe which I love. I also think that the cherry detail is so cute.

I’m not surprised that the cleansing balm was one of their best-selling products because it is that good. I am not a very big cherry scented fan because to me it smells like medicine haha. I can proudly say that this smells like a yummy cherry Icee and not medicine-like at all!!

The directions is pretty self explanatory if you’ve ever used a cleansing balm. Make sure you don’t use this on a damp face as it won’t work well at all.

Beneficial Ingredients (From Farmacy’s Website)

Key ingredients
– Natural Acerola Cherry: Contains antioxidant-rich vitamin C to help brighten, firm and hydrate skin.
– Sunflower and Moringa Seed Oils: Gently cleanse and nourish the skin for a glowing complexion.
– Moringa Extract: Lifts away dirt, grime and impurities from pollution so that skin stays younger, longer.
– Papaya extract: Gently exfoliates to help reveal a youthful glow.

All ingredients
Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Polyethylene, Peg-10 Isostearate, Malpighia Emarginata (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Fruit Extract, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Glycerin, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Melia Azadirachta Bark Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Bixa Orellana Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Water/Aqua/Eau, Butylene Glycol, Disodium Phosphate, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid

This texture is very comparable to oil that has solidified. It’s not a very whipped texture, but it does melt very nicely. Farmacy also included a little spatula so you don’t spread the germs from your hands into the container which I absolutely appreciate them doing.

This is just about how much I use for my whole face. If I happened to wear waterproof makeup, I use just a bit more. So, remember a little goes a long way!

As you can see, this product melts into an oil pretty quickly without chunks. It’s very smooth and smells so yummy.

Is this brand clean?

This brand is…

  • Paraben Free
  • Formaldehyde Donor Free
  • Synthetic Fragrance Free
  • Phthalate Free
  • Mineral Oil Free
  • Cruelty Free

Final Thoughts?!

My final thoughts are that the $34 price tag on this product is totally worth it. The formula and ingredients are amazing. Being a mommy of 3, I love products that work pretty quickly as I’m always on a time crunch and this product does the job well. I also love this product because if you guys know me, then you know I rave all the time about coconut oil being an amazing makeup remover which I still stand by. However, this product does not leave you looking or feeling greasy which is so nice. So, I get the effectiveness, without the greasiness which is a win in my book. I love that this product will last a long time. For all my sensitive scented people, don’t worry, this product smells like cherry Icee, but a lot lighter which I love. It makes me want a fruit bowl after I’m done removing my makeup because of the scent. Haha.

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post! Don’t forget to like, comment, share and follow my blog for new posts every Tuesday and Friday! I am also on the fence on participating in Blogmas this year!! 🙂 Are any of you participating?

Have any of you guys ever tried this product?! If so, let me know in the comments below.

Style and Beauty starts with skincare. in today's post, I went ahead and reviewed an amazing cleansing balm for you all! I hope you enjoyed it.

What I’ve been loving lately for my hair!

Hair is one of those things that I love and hate at the same time! I love how it looks and feels when it’s washed and styled, but I hate the process! I made a promise to myself last month that I’d take the time to research products that will work for my hair and revive it while also helping to cut my styling time in half because I have ALOT of hair!

Background of my hair

So, just to be fair, I want to give you a background and description of my hair type since not everyone’s hair type is the same. My hair is very thick and I have lots of it. It goes past my shoulders, so it’s on the longer side and it’s a mixture of wavy/curly. With this being said, it takes quite a while to style my hair being that there is so much of it.

Products that have been working very well for me.

When I look for products, I love to keep it within the same brand because I find that the products work better together that way and it makes things less complicated when shopping for it. Influenster sent me the Shampoo , Conditioner , Argan Oil and the mask that for some reason I can’t find a link for. I figured I’d give this one a shot because the only product I’ve tried from them was the Moroccan Argan Oil (not extra strength) and it didn’t work well for me at all. The formula was a little to lightweight for my hair and I needed something to penetrate into my hair and actually do some magic.

The shampoo is really good and it suds well which I love because it feels like it’s actually cleaning my scalp instead of just lathering on more product.

The conditioner is awesome because it puts just enough moisture into your hair without weighing it down or leaving it looking greasy and gross.

The mask container was so small and at first I was thinking this is insane, I think I’ll end up using the entire container on my hair, but I was wrong. The formula was thick and a little went a long way and it did a very good job at reviving my hair.

I also tested out the oil and it was ok, I could live without it because it just seemed super heavy. It smells amazing though.

My hair routine

I do believe that the products only work as well as your hair care routine and how you take care of your hair in between washes. What I typically do for my wash days are

  • Make sure to brush out any knots that my hair may have before jumping in the shower.
  • lathering the shampoo onto my scalp and working it into my damp hair.
  • Rinse the shampoo off and repeat the shampoo step for extra volume.
  • Here’s the important part, when you apply your conditioner
ONLY APPLY it to the middle part of your hair (pretend your putting your hair in a ponytail and only condition the part of the hair that is under the elastic or hair tie) down to the ends and coat the ends well.
  • Brush the conditioner through your hair with a wide toothed comb, but leave your roots untouched.
  • Leave this on for about five minutes or so
  • Rinse with cold water to lock in the moisture and help the frizz

Masking days!

I love to do my hair mask days on a day that I need to wash my hair. I wash my hair 2-3 times a week depending on the weather and how dirty it gets, but I deep condition my hair once a week to keep it maintained.

I usually do a mask on Wednesday because It’s a good day for me to remember to mask. On those days, I pretty much just repeat my wash day hair routine and towards the ending of my shower, I’ll add the mask and coat my hair from the top down to the ends leaving my scalp untouched so it doesn’t get to moisturized and greasy. I then leave it in for about 10 minutes so it can penetrate and revive my hair.

How I style my hair

The styling of my hair changes from time to time depending on how much free time I have at the moment.

No matter what, the first step is to let your hair dry. I DO NOT blow dry my hair. It is very rare that I blow dry my hair because it is damaging to your hair and I don’t want to damage my hair even more than it gets damaged in the Florida sun!

The next step would be to add heat protectant and either use a flat iron to straighten it or a curling wand to curl it or add a bit more defined waves.

Now, if I’m leaving my hair natural which is my go to style, I’ll just add a touch of the Moroccan oil, and fix the front section of my hair to frame my face a bit if needed. I tend to wash my hair at night so I just pretty much wrap my hair in a microfiber towel until it’s dried and doing that alone helps define the natural waves and curls that I already have.

When did I start noticing a difference in my hair?

I noticed a difference after about a week. I noticed an even bigger difference after I put in the hair mask because maybe my hair just needed some moisture put back in it. All in all, it’s been about a month and half since I’ve been using these products and I absolutely love it. I’ve been getting a ton more compliments on my hair and I’ve even been getting asked if I can let them know what wand I’ve been using for my hair because they love the waves in my hair.

These products are amazing and also affordable and I would definitely recommend it.

Have you ever tried this line? If so, let me know in the comments below with your thoughts on it.
