What I’ve been loving lately for my hair!

Hair is one of those things that I love and hate at the same time! I love how it looks and feels when it’s washed and styled, but I hate the process! I made a promise to myself last month that I’d take the time to research products that will work for my hair and revive it while also helping to cut my styling time in half because I have ALOT of hair!

Background of my hair

So, just to be fair, I want to give you a background and description of my hair type since not everyone’s hair type is the same. My hair is very thick and I have lots of it. It goes past my shoulders, so it’s on the longer side and it’s a mixture of wavy/curly. With this being said, it takes quite a while to style my hair being that there is so much of it.

Products that have been working very well for me.

When I look for products, I love to keep it within the same brand because I find that the products work better together that way and it makes things less complicated when shopping for it. Influenster sent me the Shampoo , Conditioner , Argan Oil and the mask that for some reason I can’t find a link for. I figured I’d give this one a shot because the only product I’ve tried from them was the Moroccan Argan Oil (not extra strength) and it didn’t work well for me at all. The formula was a little to lightweight for my hair and I needed something to penetrate into my hair and actually do some magic.

The shampoo is really good and it suds well which I love because it feels like it’s actually cleaning my scalp instead of just lathering on more product.

The conditioner is awesome because it puts just enough moisture into your hair without weighing it down or leaving it looking greasy and gross.

The mask container was so small and at first I was thinking this is insane, I think I’ll end up using the entire container on my hair, but I was wrong. The formula was thick and a little went a long way and it did a very good job at reviving my hair.

I also tested out the oil and it was ok, I could live without it because it just seemed super heavy. It smells amazing though.

My hair routine

I do believe that the products only work as well as your hair care routine and how you take care of your hair in between washes. What I typically do for my wash days are

  • Make sure to brush out any knots that my hair may have before jumping in the shower.
  • lathering the shampoo onto my scalp and working it into my damp hair.
  • Rinse the shampoo off and repeat the shampoo step for extra volume.
  • Here’s the important part, when you apply your conditioner…ONLY APPLY it to the middle part of your hair (pretend your putting your hair in a ponytail and only condition the part of the hair that is under the elastic or hair tie) down to the ends and coat the ends well.
  • Brush the conditioner through your hair with a wide toothed comb, but leave your roots untouched.
  • Leave this on for about five minutes or so
  • Rinse with cold water to lock in the moisture and help the frizz
  • DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR AFTER YOU GET OUT THE SHOWER

Masking days!

I love to do my hair mask days on a day that I need to wash my hair. I wash my hair 2-3 times a week depending on the weather and how dirty it gets, but I deep condition my hair once a week to keep it maintained.

I usually do a mask on Wednesday because It’s a good day for me to remember to mask. On those days, I pretty much just repeat my wash day hair routine and towards the ending of my shower, I’ll add the mask and coat my hair from the top down to the ends leaving my scalp untouched so it doesn’t get to moisturized and greasy. I then leave it in for about 10 minutes so it can penetrate and revive my hair.

How I style my hair

The styling of my hair changes from time to time depending on how much free time I have at the moment.

No matter what, the first step is to let your hair dry. I DO NOT blow dry my hair. It is very rare that I blow dry my hair because it is damaging to your hair and I don’t want to damage my hair even more than it gets damaged in the Florida sun!

The next step would be to add heat protectant and either use a flat iron to straighten it or a curling wand to curl it or add a bit more defined waves.

Now, if I’m leaving my hair natural which is my go to style, I’ll just add a touch of the Moroccan oil, and fix the front section of my hair to frame my face a bit if needed. I tend to wash my hair at night so I just pretty much wrap my hair in a microfiber towel until it’s dried and doing that alone helps define the natural waves and curls that I already have.

When did I start noticing a difference in my hair?

I noticed a difference after about a week. I noticed an even bigger difference after I put in the hair mask because maybe my hair just needed some moisture put back in it. All in all, it’s been about a month and half since I’ve been using these products and I absolutely love it. I’ve been getting a ton more compliments on my hair and I’ve even been getting asked if I can let them know what wand I’ve been using for my hair because they love the waves in my hair.

These products are amazing and also affordable and I would definitely recommend it.
