What I’ve been loving lately for my hair!

Hair is one of those things that I love and hate at the same time! I love how it looks and feels when it’s washed and styled, but I hate the process! I made a promise to myself last month that I’d take the time to research products that will work for my hair and revive it while also helping to cut my styling time in half because I have ALOT of hair!

Background of my hair

So, just to be fair, I want to give you a background and description of my hair type since not everyone’s hair type is the same. My hair is very thick and I have lots of it. It goes past my shoulders, so it’s on the longer side and it’s a mixture of wavy/curly. With this being said, it takes quite a while to style my hair being that there is so much of it.

Products that have been working very well for me.

When I look for products, I love to keep it within the same brand because I find that the products work better together that way and it makes things less complicated when shopping for it. Influenster sent me the Shampoo , Conditioner , Argan Oil and the mask that for some reason I can’t find a link for. I figured I’d give this one a shot because the only product I’ve tried from them was the Moroccan Argan Oil (not extra strength) and it didn’t work well for me at all. The formula was a little to lightweight for my hair and I needed something to penetrate into my hair and actually do some magic.

The shampoo is really good and it suds well which I love because it feels like it’s actually cleaning my scalp instead of just lathering on more product.

The conditioner is awesome because it puts just enough moisture into your hair without weighing it down or leaving it looking greasy and gross.

The mask container was so small and at first I was thinking this is insane, I think I’ll end up using the entire container on my hair, but I was wrong. The formula was thick and a little went a long way and it did a very good job at reviving my hair.

I also tested out the oil and it was ok, I could live without it because it just seemed super heavy. It smells amazing though.

My hair routine

I do believe that the products only work as well as your hair care routine and how you take care of your hair in between washes. What I typically do for my wash days are

  • Make sure to brush out any knots that my hair may have before jumping in the shower.
  • lathering the shampoo onto my scalp and working it into my damp hair.
  • Rinse the shampoo off and repeat the shampoo step for extra volume.
  • Here’s the important part, when you apply your conditioner…ONLY APPLY it to the middle part of your hair (pretend your putting your hair in a ponytail and only condition the part of the hair that is under the elastic or hair tie) down to the ends and coat the ends well.
  • Brush the conditioner through your hair with a wide toothed comb, but leave your roots untouched.
  • Leave this on for about five minutes or so
  • Rinse with cold water to lock in the moisture and help the frizz
  • DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR AFTER YOU GET OUT THE SHOWER

Masking days!

I love to do my hair mask days on a day that I need to wash my hair. I wash my hair 2-3 times a week depending on the weather and how dirty it gets, but I deep condition my hair once a week to keep it maintained.

I usually do a mask on Wednesday because It’s a good day for me to remember to mask. On those days, I pretty much just repeat my wash day hair routine and towards the ending of my shower, I’ll add the mask and coat my hair from the top down to the ends leaving my scalp untouched so it doesn’t get to moisturized and greasy. I then leave it in for about 10 minutes so it can penetrate and revive my hair.

How I style my hair

The styling of my hair changes from time to time depending on how much free time I have at the moment.

No matter what, the first step is to let your hair dry. I DO NOT blow dry my hair. It is very rare that I blow dry my hair because it is damaging to your hair and I don’t want to damage my hair even more than it gets damaged in the Florida sun!

The next step would be to add heat protectant and either use a flat iron to straighten it or a curling wand to curl it or add a bit more defined waves.

Now, if I’m leaving my hair natural which is my go to style, I’ll just add a touch of the Moroccan oil, and fix the front section of my hair to frame my face a bit if needed. I tend to wash my hair at night so I just pretty much wrap my hair in a microfiber towel until it’s dried and doing that alone helps define the natural waves and curls that I already have.

When did I start noticing a difference in my hair?

I noticed a difference after about a week. I noticed an even bigger difference after I put in the hair mask because maybe my hair just needed some moisture put back in it. All in all, it’s been about a month and half since I’ve been using these products and I absolutely love it. I’ve been getting a ton more compliments on my hair and I’ve even been getting asked if I can let them know what wand I’ve been using for my hair because they love the waves in my hair.

These products are amazing and also affordable and I would definitely recommend it.

How To: Style 2 Fall Outfits Using One Staple Item

Fall is a beautiful time of year! The leaves change color, there’s crispness in the air, Seasonal flavors are released and clothes become super cute!

Here in Florida, the temps have been in the high 60s low 70s. It inspired me to create some Fall Looks, but only using one staple item.

So, the staple item that I chose to create a few different looks is by the brand “BeachLunchLounge” and it’s a button down styled top. Not to mention, it’s under $45 They have a few left in stock Here. So, be quick to snag it.

For reference, I’m usually a Small/Medium, but for this particular piece, I sized up to a Large for a more loose, flowy fit. I love this piece because the colors are a beautiful transition from the Summer Season to Fall. I also think these colors would look beautiful on all skin tones.

Let’s get into the outfits!!! So the first look is perfect if where you live is still on the warmer side.

I think button down dresses are so flattering on every body type. I added a thin belt to synch in the waist a bit for some extra shape, but you can pass. It’ll look great either way. I also went for silver jewelry to go with the hardware on the belt. I also went very simple on the jewelry because I wanted the plaid, buttoned dress to be the main piece. For shoes, I went with the brand Kelly and Katie which is sold at DSW. Unfortunately it’s sold out, but I found a very similar style here at Nordstrom which is still super cute. I love the detail of the shoes and I loved the fact that it’s a loafer style shoe which gives a casual dressy vibe. This would even look great with low top sneakers for an even more casual vibe.

For the second look I went more on the feminine side. This look would be great for pictures at a pumpkin patch or a day date.

I love this slightly distressed Leapord hat which adds a bit of fun to the outfit. I also paired this with boots from Forever 21 with a circle heel for a bit of a fun and flirty feel. As far as accessories, I paired this look with gold jewelry to go with the warm vibe of the warm tans. I also rolled the sleeves for a bit of detail and this way I can show my layered bracelets a bit more.

The options are endless with this one inexpensive piece. You don’t have to get the same exact button down I purchased, but instead use this as inspiration for cute looks you can create! It is also better for the environment to rewear outfits.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post as much as I did! This was so fun to create. Would you guys like to see more posts like this??

Review/Swatches: Rare Beauty Palette in Magnetic Spirit

“It’s not about being someone else, but being who you are.”

Selena Gomez

I love this quote because in my opinion this is what they kept in mind when making their whole line. Today, I’ll be focusing on one of the two limited edition eyeshadow palettes they created.

Inspiration

I went on Rare Beauty’s website to find out what inspired them to make this palette and this is what I found:

Inspired by the light and energy that surrounds us, these chromatic shades make it easy to create eye-catching looks that reflect your true aura. Rich jewel tones and earth tones come together in brilliant metallic and duo-chrome finishes—perfect for a quick wash of color, or endless layering.

http://www.Rarebeauty.com

I absolutely love what inspired their decision to create this palette because this is seriously exactly the vibe I got from this palette when I first unboxed it.

Packaging

The packaging they chose for this eyeshadow palette is seriously breathtaking. It is bright, energetic, unique and just simply stunning. They took all the shades in this palette and created a masterpiece on the front of the packaging using those shades. I also love that they added “Rare Beauty” so simply in the middle of the packaging that glistens when it hits light! Very well done Rare Beauty!

I love the detail of the film that says “You are Rare” because it’s such a nice compliment and such a great way to add their brand name in there. Super cute.

Price

Priced at $25 for 6 beautiful, unique shades…this palette is definitely on the affordable side of the spectrum. Not only do you get really good quality shadows that are full of pigment, but the pan is pretty deep.

Texture/Pigmentation

Rare Beauty describes these shadows as buttery, bendable and long wearing. I’d have to agree with this because the glitter doesn’t get gross and clumped up like some glitter shadows that I’ve tried. I’ve also noticed there’s little to no fall out down to the deepest shade in this palette which is a heavy positive for me!

Product Review: Watermelon Sleep Mask By Glow

Watermelon is so delicious and refreshing in the summer time, but it’s also beneficial for the Fall and Winter season. When the weather starts cooling down and the air becomes dry, your skin will thank you for hydrating it with this amazingness.

Today’s review will be on the Watermelon Sleeping Mask by Glow

Let’s get into the review…

Price is a big factor for me when it comes to a product, but I don’t mind spending the money if it’s a great product. There are two sizes you can choose from. I love that they offer two sizes so you’re able to buy the smaller size to test out first and then move on to the bigger size if you love the product. This way you aren’t wasting product or money if you don’t like it.

  • 30 ml which retails for $22
  • 80 ml which retails for $45

The smell is so juicy, not to sweet and refreshing. It has a smell of watermelons. I’m a big fan of watermelon scented products. If you’re the same as me then you’re going to love it!

To Use As A Sleeping Mask:

Use two scoops or a generous layer on skin as the final step of the evening routine. For drier skin types, layer an additional dime-sized amount onto the skin. Be sure to gently pat, not rub, mask into skin until absorbed and wash thoroughly in the morning.

To Use As A Wash Off Mask:

Use the spatula to scoop the face mask and spread a thick layer gently across the face from forehead to chin. Rinse with lukewarm water after 10 minutes.

http://www.glow.com

Here’s another reason why I was intrigued at this product. The texture is so goopy but not thick and it feels sooo cooling when applied to your face. It soaks right into your skin when it’s applied which is always a good sign of great hydration. To me, it also de-puffs your face.

Beneficial Ingredients?

According to Glow’s Website here are the key ingredients they use in this sleeping mask.

Watermelon

Amino-rich watermelon extract intensely hydrates, soothes and fights free radical damage to ward off fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots.

Hyaluronic Acid

Instantly quench thirsty skin with hyaluronic acid. This holy grail hydrator retains 1000 times its weight in water to breathe new life to dry, rough skin.

AHA

Gentle chemical exfoliators that buff away dead skin, smooth fine lines, soften texture, diminish dark spots, and clarify pores. In other words, they help your skin live its best life.

Pumpkin Extract

Rich in antioxidants that both repair skin and defend it against damage-causing free radicals.

Cruelty Free?

Yes, and also free of…

Parabens, Mineral Oil, Sulfates, Silicones, Phthalates, Drying Alcohols, Synthetic Dyes. Vegan. Leaping Bunny Certified Cruelty-free.

When did I notice a difference in my skin?

The morning after the first application I noticed how soft my skin looked and felt, how hydrated it was because it was bouncy to the touch. I also noticed how much more even my face looked and how much my pores shrunk. I usually have a glow when I wake up, but the glow I had the next morning from this product was to the next level.

Final thoughts

I give this product 5 stars because it seriously makes a difference to my skin. The smell and texture of the sleeping mask is amazing. It’s convenient because I don’t have to wash this product off, wait for it to dry and it won’t transfer to my pillows, blankets or anything else. Not to mention, the messiness that comes with the process of traditional clay face masks. It smells so good and I always get compliments on the scent from my husband and kids. It can be a bit pricey, but it’s seriously worth it. I wouldn’t recommend a high end product until I absolutely LOVE it!

Repurchasing?

Absolutely I will be repurchasing because this has now become a staple in my skincare routine!

This concludes today’s review! As always, thanks for taking the time to read my blog post and I hope you all enjoyed this product review. Have you guys ever tried this product? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section!

How To: Get Glowy, Hydrated Skin

Glowing skin is an everlasting trend for me! It gives me the reassurance that I’m doing something right with my diet, skincare routine, etc…

Today’s post is all about glowing skin and how I achieve it!

Eat well

Now, I’d be a HUGE hypocrite if I told you to only eat healthy because let’s be honest, eating healthy is great and all, but if you’re like me then you love indulging in a slice of chocolate cake, ice cream or even having cheat days. That is totally fine, don’t deprive yourself of certain foods. What I mean when I say eat well is to make sure you do have your daily fruits and veggies intake and make sure you include a lot of water in your diet. It’ll keep you hydrated and allow your skin to be bouncy. Who doesn’t love nice, bouncy skin and it’ll also create a healthy glow.

Stress No More

If you’re a person that stresses out over the smallest things (meeeeee) then learn to not! One phrase I had to teach myself was “If you can’t change it then it isn’t worth stressing over” and once you live by this you’ll be that much closer to not only having beautiful glowing skin, but you’ll also be that much happier!

Self Care

This is such an important step that I find that everyone struggles with. How can we always care for others before ourself? My husband always says that “If you don’t take care of yourself then you won’t be able to take care of anyone else”! Self care is easy to add in your day. It could be anything as simple as having a cup of coffee in quiet, taking a day nap, leaving the house for an hour to just do something you want, getting a manicure/pedicure, taking a little walk, putting on a face mask, indulging in your favorite treat, etc… If you want, I can do a whole blog post on this because mental health is important for your wellbeing and your skin will seriously thank you!

Do NOT sleep in makeup

I know you guys have heard this countless times and that’s because it is so true! When you sleep, your body repairs itself and if you’re sleeping in makeup, how can your skin repair itself? Instead, have a skincare routine that will allow your skin to actually repair and work its magic for that million dollar glow!

Skincare products that I use daily for a glow!

I love keeping my skincare really simple because with me being a mommy of 3 and a wifey, time is rarely on my side.

  1. Remove makeup using Melt away Cleansing Balm because it seriously removes ALL my makeup every single time without leaving a trace behind.
  2. Cleanse using Aveeno Positively Radiant Brightening Cleanser.
  3. Tone: I just recently started toning and I don’t know why I didn’t start sooner. I use Thayers Witch Hazel. All I do is apply it onto a cotton round and wipe it on my face.
  4. Moisturize: Botanics Calm Moisturizer is what I use and I seriously love it. If you guys want me to do a full review on this product, I can gladly do so.

Treat my skin days!

I love treating my skin at least 2 times a week because our skin needs it!

  1. Remove makeup using the Melt Away Cleansing Balm
  2. Shave my face to exfoliate it and get rid of the peach fuzz.
  3. Cleanse my face using the Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser
  4. Exfoliate with Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Scrub. This product is quite gentle on my face and doesn’t leave it red or irritated.
  5. Apply Watermelon Sleep Mask By Glow and head to bed!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s post! What are some of your favorite skincare products to achieve “The glowy look”? Let me know in the comments below and no matter what, always remember the “Glow” comes from the inside! 🙂

Today, I decided to share 10 facts about me. Some that you may have already known and some that might surprise you. Haha. In the comments below, feel free to share a fun fact about yourself as well! I’d love to see the answers that I get on this because it’s so fun to learn about fellow bloggers.

  1. I was born in Queens, New York and I think that’s why I have a go, go, go feature to me. Haha.
  2. I prefer Iced coffee over hot coffee any day. I have no idea why, but I think it’s because I burned my tongue way too many times from hot coffee. I do still love hot cocoa because it’s just a vibe.
  3. I got married at the age of 18 and my husband was 19. I don’t regret it at all. I love that we got married young because I shared some of my best memories with him and I am blessed to share memories with my kids while we’re still young (now 25 and hubby is 26).
  4. I have 3 kids…a little girl (5) a little boy (2) and another little boy (under 1). Yes, I want more kids. I always loved kids and always wanted to have a big family of my own!

  6. I’ve traveled to Trinidad, Singapore, Malaysia and Dubai and hoping to expand my ventures because it’s so fun trying new food and learning about the different cultures there are aside from America!
  7. I have a pet cat named Zoey and we adopted her. She was extremely shy at first, but with time she warmed up to our little family so well and she’s not shy at all anymore. She’s also a black cat and I’ve been having nothing but good luck since we got her. #KillTheStereotype
  8. I had a blog page previously (blossomedbeauty) and connected with so many bloggers, but I decided to delete it completely and start over!
  9. My favorite sweet treat is brownies and ice cream with hot fudge!!
